Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
This update on his health follows the sports world offered condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
