Clair Obscur Dominates at the 2025's Gaming Honors
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted this past week, and with a remarkable performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Complementing the developer's success, the gifted performers also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English was named Outstanding Lead Performance for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers achieved seven awards during the event.
Additional major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. It is important to note, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only 4 categories—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers' Favorite—judged by reviewers.
